Solution: "Device unable to communicate with the control unit" Error


Troubleshooting for "Device unable to communicate with the control unit" on Autel diagnostic scanner.
Problem: How to do in case having "Device unable to communicate with the control unit" error on Autel MK808 or Autel MP808?
At this time, device is unable to diagnose with 0V voltage.


It says:
  1. Ensure the vehicle ignition is in ON position.
  2. Ensure the cable is good condition and is securely attached to vehicle DLC.
  3. Ensure the battery is fully charged.
  4. Verify the system is configured for the vehicle.
  5. Ensure there is a green check mark on the VCI icon of the device display.
  6. Attempt to establish communication between the device and the VCI via USB cable.
  7. If the problem persists, record the issue in a data log and submit to Dealer or contact technical support.



Troubleshooting
 
  1. Check if the voltage is 0V or 12-14V: 0V means no communication, make sure hardware connection is OK.
  2. Try if USB & Bluetooth connection are OK.
  3. Update VCI firmware to latest version.
  4. Change the test cable or VCI.
  5. Upload data logo for technical analysis.
